Make a cassette online.

Start with a blank cassette. Write their name on the label, record the song that means them, tuck in a photo and a note — then send it as one link. When they open it, the tape turns and plays.

What is a digital cassette?

A cassette used to be the most personal thing you could give someone: a tape with their name on the label and songs you picked just for them. A digital cassette keeps all of that and loses the tape deck.

On Cassetoire it’s a cassette tape you make in your browser and send as a link. It holds a song, a photo and a handwritten-feeling note, and it plays on any phone or laptop.

A cassette story, told in one song.

Every cassette tells a small story — why this song, why this person, why now. The note goes on the card, the photo becomes a polaroid, and the song plays the moment they press play.

Then share the story on: send the cassette on WhatsApp, or turn it into an animated Story card for Instagram, in the look you pick.

Every tape starts blank.

Open the studio and a blank cassette is waiting. Everything you add shows up on the tape as you go — their name on the label, your photo, your note — so you can see it take shape before you send it.

Record your voice instead of a song, send a song back when someone makes you one, and edit or delete your cassettes whenever you like.

How to make a cassette online

  1. Label the tape — Write who it’s for — a name or a nickname goes on the cassette’s label.
  2. Record the song — Search YouTube right there, paste a Spotify or Apple Music link, or record your voice.
  3. Add a photo — Pick a picture of the two of you, or of the moment. It becomes the polaroid.
  4. Write the note and send — Say what the song can’t, then send the link on WhatsApp or anywhere you like.

Cassette questions

What is a digital cassette?

A cassette tape made online instead of on a tape deck. On Cassetoire it holds a song, a photo and a note, and whoever you send it to unwraps it like a real tape and presses play — in their browser.

How do I make a cassette online?

Sign up for free, open the studio and fill in the blank cassette: their name, the song, a photo and a note. Press continue and you get one link to send.

Is it free to make a cassette?

Yes. Making and sending cassettes on Cassetoire is free — everyone can make three a day.

Does the person I send it to need an app or an account?

No. The cassette opens straight from the link in any browser, on a phone or a laptop. Nothing to install and no sign-in.

Can I put my own voice on a cassette?

Yes. Choose Record Voice in the studio and your voice note goes on the tape instead of a song.

Can I share a cassette story on Instagram or WhatsApp?

Yes. Send the cassette itself on WhatsApp in one tap, or make an animated Story card — as an image or a video — to post on Instagram or your WhatsApp status.

Can I change a cassette after I’ve sent it?

Yes. Open it from your shelf to change the name, song, photo or note — the link stays the same. You can also delete it for good.

Is it spelled cassette, casette or cassete?

Cassette — two s’s and two t’s, from the French for “little box”. It often gets typed casette, cassete, cassett, casset or kaset. However you spell it, it’s the same tape, and you can make one here.
